Frequently Asked Questions

What is the deadline for applications?

We accept applications throughout the year, however academic scholarships for college/university scholarships have a deadline of the second Saturday in April for the upcoming September semester, in order to coincide with the scholarship award ceremonies. Therefore, applications are due April 13, 2024 for the 2023/2024 academic year. Applications received after that date will not be considered.

How many scholarships do you give out each year?

The DKKMSF Officers and Board of Directors typically award between 5-7 scholarships each year. As the Fund continues to grow, additional scholarships will most likely be awarded.

If I have previously applied, am I allowed to apply again?

Yes! You will need to provide all of the application materials again though, as if you were applying for the first time. This will ensure the board will have your most up-to-date information.

What is the maximum scholarship amount that you award per applicant?

$1000.00.

What happens if my application is submitted late or incomplete?

If your application is submitted late or incomplete, your application will be set aside and you will not be considered for a scholarship. Please be sure to review the application in detail before submitting.

How will I know if I am awarded a scholarship?

You will be notified by the President of the DKKMSF on whether or not you have recieved a scholarship. The notifications typically happen within the first 2 weeks of May.

How will you give me the money I was awarded?

The DKKMSF will write a check to the institution to which the scholarship is going towards, not the individual scholarship recipient.

Why do you request a picture for those who were awarded scholarships?

The DKKMSF typically requests a photograph for scholarship recipents after they are awarded the scholarship so that our website, donor newsletter, and local newspapers can have a picture to accompany the scholarship notifications.

Thank you!
